Hi! My name is Abeni Jones.
With 10+ years of experience as a middle and high school teacher, youth worker, workshop and training designer and facilitator, communications professional, and freelance writer and designer, I’m available to strategically support your group or organization with manifesting your goals - or even help you figure out what your goals are!
I specialize in critical conversations and education around gender, race, sexuality, disability, and all of their intersections - for many organization, my expertise falls under the diversity and inclusion umbrella. I am a disabled trans woman of color, and pull both from my lived experiences and from over a decade of research and study. I also write and teach a lot about community-building - and have a practical framework I’ve developed for my flagship workshop, How To Take Care of Each Other.
I provide consulting, workshops, and trainings at conferences and for community groups, non-profits, businesses, and individuals. I also give keynote and plenary speeches. Find out more about my offerings and experience here.
I’m a freelance writer and journalist, and currently write for autostraddle.com, argotmagazine.org, and pushblack.us. I also write and design curriculum. Find out more about my writing here.
I can design logos, business cards and products, print and digital materials, and illustrations (including digital portraits). Find out more about my design and illustration work here.

Need a diversity and inclusion 101 training for your startup? Want to level up your nonprofit’s political analysis? Worried your next event isn’t inclusive or accessible for marginalized folks? Hit me up.
I write about some heavy, critical things, like gender, race, disability, and community-building, and specialize in the “personal essay” - but I also love writing about pop culture, primarily music.
Need your next annual report to be both beautiful and functional? Need a poster for your event? Just want a slick illustrated avatar for your social media profile? I can do that!
